'Eat With Style' Hopes to Revamp Siam Square's Nightlife
By: Talk Bangkok
Last night, Central Pattana introduced their new "Lifestyle Dining & Gastro Bar Landmarks" at Zense Restaurant on the 17th floor of the Zen Tower at CentralWorld. Guests, garbed in black and neon green, were able to take in tastes from all five of Zense's kitchens while sipping on libations, courtesy of Greygoose. The festivities kicked off with a drink demonstration, with a signature drink for each of the new complexes Central will open: Groove in Bangkok, The Port in Samui and The Blossom in Chiangmai.
After a brief introduction of the team responsible for the project, popular Thai band, Getsunova came out to serenade the guests. The band came out with a lot of energy, donning their trademark bandanas over their faces and played their hit single "Klai Kae Nhai Kue Klai (How Far is Near?)." They also played a few English covers including Radiohead's "Creep." Their rendition was surprisingly true to the original until the lead singer decided to ditch the lyrics to take photos with some overzealous fans. Despite this brief hiccup, the lead singer worked the crowd excellently and brought some energetic noise to the affair.
So what exactly is a dining landmark? Major cities around the world have their must visit nighttime destinations such as Singapore's Clarke Quay, New York City's Meatpacking District and Hong Kong's Lon Kwai Fong. Groove is Central's answer for Bangkok. The lifestyle complex, set to open this December, will feature fine dining venues from around the world including Harrods and Cicchetti from England and Maxim's de Paris from France. Wine Connection, Greyhound Café and the Water Library are some of Bangkok's most popular dining destinations that will also be opening up new branches at Groove. An ever-changing interior will be sure to draw in Thais and tourists alike for this country's favorite pastime of photo-taking (the top two most Instagrammed places in the world are in Bangkok). Groove will be connected to the Skywalk and be located between the Mo Chit and Siam Square BTS stations, and will hopefully inject some excitement into the otherwise barren nightlife scene of Siam Square.
